The L1 is designed with a curved acrylic frame while the Quartzophone H2 has a straight frame made with Canadian Birdseye maple. The decision on wood or acrylic is completely personal to your preferences. Both instruments play and create the same outstanding harmonics.

Created by Gaudry Normand of Mine Cristal in Canada, the new 3-D, arced design is ergonomic and makes it easy and comfortable to hold and play. It rests comfortably on your arm or can be played on a table. It is slim, has smooth curves and is extremely easy to play.

Which Scale Should I Select, 432hz or 442hz?

432hz is most often selected by those who use the Quartzophone for meditation and health. 432hz is an earth frequency. The 442hz is often selected by muscians who play their instruments in the 440hz scale. That said, the harmonics created by the crystal harp are incredibly healing regardless of which scale you select. Practitioners report having great experiences with both frequencies.

Playing the Quartzophone L1

No, you do not need to be a musician. Most of those who purchase a Quartzophone L1 are not musicians. The L1 can be played on its own or with other musical instruments including singing bowls, tuning forks or any orchestral or native instruments. Use the L1 for group meditations, at yoga studios, meditation centers, alternative healing sessions and spiritual gatherings. Many will play at solo concerts or with other musicians.

For those with a musical background, the Quartzophone L1 has the eight notes in the octave of the C major scale tuned to 432 Hz. Each tube is perfect pitch (within +- 5 cents), true tone for those familiar with singing bowls. If you are working with alternative health, the L1 works directly with the major chakra centers, root to crown.

Included with Each Quartzophone L1

  • A padded carrier with handles and a shoulder strap.
  • A specially designed reusable transport box
  • An acrylic display stand
  • Two felt-covered round ended strikers

About the Mallets

The Quartzophone L1 comes with two felt-covered round ended strikers. This special design creates a pure and powerful tone and prevents unwanted noises like you might get with singing bowls. By simply tapping lightly on the tubes and by gliding the striker over several tubes, the player can easily create a sustained synergy of sound, a “crystal symphony!”

Displaying the Quartzophone L1

Each instrument comes with a clear, sturdy acrylic stand. The stand has two metal pegs which fit in to small holes at the base of the instrument to ensure that it does not slide off.

Service & Support

Once in awhile a tube may break. Sometimes the cat knocks it over, very often though it is the husband. The Quartzophone is designed so that you can easily replace a tube in about 15 minutes. Replacement tubes come directly from Mine Cristal in Quebec usually in 7-10 days. This is important because knockoffs from China and now from Europe require you to send their instrument back for repairs at your expense or, in many cases cannot be repaired at all. Replacing a Quartzophone tube may seem daunting but it is very easy. We encourage you to contact us if you would like us to step you through the process via FaceTime or Zoom.

Traveling with the Quartzophone

The L1 comes with a thick padded carrier with foam fittings to secure and protect each tube in transit. The color of the carrier may vary. It is delivered inside a sturdy shipping box with a carry handle which can be reused. If you plan to travel with your Quartzophone L1 on a plane or baggage handler, we strongly recommend that you travel with the shipping box. The L1 will not fit in the overhead bin on airplanes or trains. The shipping box is about 29" x 9" x 26" or 73cm x 22cm x 66cm.

Patented Design & Authenticity

The Quartzophone L1 is a new and unique instrument, protected by utility patents in the USA and many other countries. There are knock offs so to ensure that you order a L1 with the highest quality, be sure the manufacturer is Mine Cristal and the instrument you receive has a design notice on the cross bar similar to the one below.

I’ve done 2 sound baths since receiving the instrument, and the feedback has been wonderful. It’s so peaceful and light sounding. People feel even more relaxed when it comes time to play this one. The crystal clear quality of the instrument is just what I was hoping for.
